Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale

It's that time again, when various pumpkin beers hit the market. I like the packaging of this one but I'm not getting any "pumpkin" from the taste. I've tried adding my own pumpkin spice syrup to beer but the sweetness of the syrup doesn't mix well with it. Maybe I should try adding just the typical pumpkin pie spices. (ginger, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon) and leave out the sugar and water. Any recommendations?

I have found the same thing to be true. Although I like the beer, The blue Moon pumpkin ale does not really have a lot of pumpkin taste to it. Experimenting over the years, I have found that Buffalo Bills Pumpkin Ale
has been my favorite. Although not scoring very high on the charts with "professionals", It has a clean taste. not syrupy and has a lot of pumpkin flavor. Give it a shot if you can find it.

October boy...Cool! Thank You! If I see it I'll definitely give it a shot! I've perfected a recipe for pumpkin juice (like they serve at Universal Studios' The Wizarding World of Harry Potter) and I make that pumpkin spice syrup I always talk about. I think that without any sugar or with a veeeery little bit, that syrup might give any beer a pumpkin-y flavor. (it'll be cloudy though) Some experimentation is in order! MUAHAHHAAAA!!!

Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin Ale looks great!

I tried Dogfish Head Punkin Ale too but again...tasty beer but no pumpkin flavor!

It seems that when a company talks about pumpkin beer they simply mean that there's a pumpkin in the room when they make it.
